A young woman has bought back the home she grew up in with her parents by her side at an 'emotional' auction last weekend. 

Gemma, 28, secured the three-bedroom suburban house in Para Vista where she lived from when she was born until she was 18 years old. 

The woman was the only registered buyer at the auction with 15 onlookers and secured the home for $460,000 after it was sold in 2014 for $292,000.

Auctioneer John Morris from Ray White - Norwood said it was a 'sweet' moment to sell the home to Gemma who attended the auction with her parents and had her partner on FaceTime. 

'As we were walking through the house, we started talking and she was saying 'Oh my god, look at the peach paint my dad put on the wall, it's still there!'' he told FEMAIL. 

'It was just a lovely story to give it to someone who will love the home and has loved home in the past.' 

Mr Morris said the house is Gemma's first investment property which she plans to renovate and rent out.

'It wasn't even on her radar but when she saw it she said 'I've got to go along and see it',' he said.

Gemma had fond memories living in the home until 2012 and her family sold it in 2014 for $292,000 according to .
